Quick answer: COMLEX-USA score release dates run by testing window, not by your individual test date, and they land somewhere between two to six weeks after the testing window closes for Level 1 and Level 2-CE, and eight to ten weeks for Level 3. The full 2026-27 schedule for every level is below, straight from NBOME. Scores post by 5:00 PM Central on the release date under normal circumstances, and dates can shift, so bookmark NBOME’s own page instead of screenshotting this one.
It’s late October, which means a few different groups are reading this: MS2s still waiting on a Level 1 result, MS3s and MS4s watching for Level 2-CE scores right in the middle of interview season, and interns tracking Level 3 before their next step. Wherever you are in that list, whether your score already posted or you haven’t sat for the exam yet, the same rule applies.
Release dates run by testing window, not by your individual test date.
Two people who test a week apart inside the same window get their score on the exact same day, and that holds for Level 1, Level 2-CE and Level 3 alike.
Let’s get into the actual schedule for all three levels of the COMLEX exam.
When are COMLEX scores released in 2026-27?

What time are COMLEX scores released?
By 5:00 PM Central time on the scheduled release date, under normal circumstances (NBOME). You’ll get an email notification once your report is ready, and you access it through the NBOME Portal (not through the email itself).
How long does it actually take to get your COMLEX score?

Depends on the level, and it’s measured from your testing window’s close, not your individual test date.
- Level 1 and Level 2-CE: typically two to six weeks after the testing window closes.
- Level 3: typically eight to ten weeks after the testing window closes, since the CDM (clinical decision making) case portion takes longer to score.
1-on-1 COMLEX Tutoring · By DOs, For DOs
COMLEX isn't just USMLE with OMM. Prep with a DO resident who scored 700+.
Whether you're trying to clear your school's COMSAE threshold, aiming for a 600+ on Level 2-CE before ERAS opens, or regrouping for a retake—our COMLEX tutoring students average a 122-point score increase and a 99% pass rate. (Plus, 10+ hour bundles include free access to our full OMM Bootcamp.)
When should you send your Level 2-CE score to residency programs?
As soon as it posts, you can add it to ERAS. If your score’s still pending while invites have already started moving for your specialty, that is technically an incomplete application. Our guide to how to respond to residency interview invites covers exactly how to handle that window, and our complete ERAS 2027 timeline has every other key date in the cycle in one place.
What should you actually do while you wait for your COMLEX score?
Here’s the thing: refreshing the portal doesn’t move the date – so spend that energy somewhere it actually helps.
- Keep moving on everything that doesn’t depend on your score. ERAS experiences, your personal statement, and your program research all move forward no matter what number eventually posts.
- Finalize your program signal plan. Signals run on their own deadline, and waiting on your score just compresses that decision into less time later.
- Check the portal once, not five times a day. It genuinely doesn’t move your release date. It mostly adds stress to a season that already has plenty.
- Know your number before you plan your next move. Once your score’s out, our guide to COMLEX Level 2-CE percentiles and what your score actually means walks through exactly what to do with it, specialty by specialty.
Your COMLEX score is out. What now?
Read it against your specialty, not against the national average. The same three digit score can be strong for one field and below median for another, and our percentiles guide breaks down 2026 matched DO medians by specialty so you know exactly which one you’re actually looking at.
Remember, waiting on a score is one of the few parts of this cycle you genuinely can’t speed up. What you can control is having a plan ready for the time and clarity you will have after you put the test behind you, and how to continue to develop your CV & experiences to maximize your chances in the Match.

Frequently asked questions
What time are COMLEX scores released?
By 5:00 PM Central time on the scheduled release date, under normal circumstances (NBOME). NBOME notes release dates are subject to change for reasons like testing site closures, so treat the published date as the expected date, not a guarantee.
How long does it take to get COMLEX Level 1 or Level 2-CE scores?
Typically two to six weeks after your testing window closes, not after your individual test date. Level 3 takes longer, typically eight to ten weeks after the testing window closes (NBOME).
When should you send your COMLEX Level 2-CE score to residency programs?
As soon as it posts to your NBOME Portal and is available to add to ERAS. Programs can begin reviewing applications in late September, so if your score releases after that date, it reaches programs as a document upload the moment you add it, not on a fixed schedule.
Do COMLEX score release dates ever change?
Yes. NBOME states dates are subject to change based on candidate scheduling and testing administration factors such as site closures. Always confirm the current table on NBOME’s own testing windows and score release dates page before making plans around a specific date.
What should you do while you wait for your COMLEX score?
Keep moving on the parts of your application that do not depend on your score: ERAS experiences and personal statement, your program list research, and signal planning. Checking the NBOME portal daily does not move your release date and mostly adds stress.
